Waiting
After painting my paintings with all of the excessive detail, I decided to try something more natural and human. I have been watching the evening news guys' hand, as he gives the news and I liked the way it looked. So, I tried to replicate the position with my own hand and camera and this is the result. I noticed one thing about the way I paint, while doing this one. I will share it with you: I looked at this image and thought that there is no way I can make it look like the photo - it is not the kind of thing I do and it will require skills I don't have (in terms of color and edges). So, then I start doing what I can and then a week later it is done and I have no idea how I did it. I think it came out the way I expected it to look but it seems like I was in some kind of trance and I channeled somebody that could make this look believable. In the long view, it isn't much of a painting, it is more like an exercise in learning...that's mostly what it is about, in terms of meaning. If you want to go further with the meaning thing, you can notice the wedding band...imagine the fingers drumming while you wait to go somewhere. There is also a watch that can be seen just over the hand horizon, adding to the waiting factor. Or it could be just patiently waiting, daydreaming. (Disclaimer: As usual, the painting looks better than the photograph of it. Maybe one day I will learn how to make the photos of the paintings look right.)
