This painting came from the realization that so much of what we have in this world is shipped from one place to another - millions of times a day. This could be considered an homage to the simple, useful cardboard box. Another aspect to this painting is the ubiquitous bar code that, by now, is on everything we bring into our houses. (Norman Joseph Woodland was best known as one of the inventors of the bar code, for which he received US Patent 2,612,994 in October 1952.)
