The House From "Wonder Boys" This painting has been sold
One of my favorite movies is "Wonder Boys". When we were in Pittsburgh, one time, visiting my youngest we walked by this house. It was used in the movie as the house that Michael Douglas' character lived in. The bay window over the porch roof is where he wrote the mysterious novel that never ended and hovered around 2,000 pages long - as the story goes - is there with his character just barely visible in the center window. He is in the chenille woman's robe that was his writing "outfit". There are other adventures and misadventures in this movie. If you haven't seen it - put it on your Netflix queue. The actual, present day house has a much nicer color scheme and I prefer the new look but I thought that if I was trying to attach this thought to the movie, I should use the color of the house in the movie. I also had to leave out some trees. there is one on the left that is OK but the one on the right is, now, overpowering. I figured I was painting a character in the movie and I wanted to show all of it - the painting is about the house not it's' landscaping.
