The Fog Comes This Way
I walked by one of my windows recently. It was one of those warmer winter days where the fog forms near the surface because of the snow on the ground and the warmth of the air. I noticed that it seemed that the fog was moving toward me, like a cloud. I ran and got my camera so as to record this image and see if it turned into a painting. It did. I thought it might be an easy thing but it turned out to be very difficult. Each part was painted 3-4-5 times in an effort to find some way to make it do what I wanted it to do. I knew that the fore, mid, and background had to be separate from one another. I knew that very little color could be wrung out of the scene. So, a moody, vague image emerged. I’m hoping that it looks to the viewer a little like it looked to me, that day.
