Same Place Different Day

This is my first diptych. I did the painting on the right from information gathered later in the summer - the one on the left is from the spring time. I did the left one as a challenge to my self, capturing water moving by and being blown toward me by a cold wind, at the same time. When I got the information for that painting, it was the day before they started putting barges in place to dredge the PCB's from the Hudson River. When they put the barges in the same spot I used for the first painting, I felt obliged to re-paint the scene with the additions. both paintings are from nearly the exact same spot. The vegetation is more mature in the one on the right and the water is far calmer, as well. When the barges have done their jobs, and moved on, this part of the river will turn back in time and become what it appears to be on the left - pristine.
