Rip Rap in the Sun
I have been looking for years for just the “right” rock formation to be the subject of a painting. I have many pictures taken from many places and vantage points. I haven’t found the “right” one yet. I did this example of some rocks because of the light and the randomness of the scene seemed to hit a note in my head. This is just some rip rap keeping a bank in place for some motel near Lake George. To be honest, I like the way it turned out but I don’t care for the sameness of the random shapes and colors. I guess the thing I like best is the hard shadows in the bright sun. I will keep looking for the perfect - wall - formation - pile or something.
