I did not intend to make this painting a visual pun but I think it should be considered. This man is working on paper as the paper is being made behind him. This is the last part of the process where the huge paper rolls get sliced into rolls that are still measured in tons but they are smaller and more manageable for wrapping and shipping. When I decided to paint this part of the process it was because of the noise present in this area and the focus of this guy, with his ear plugs, making notations related to the current run of paper. Perhaps he is Quality control?
