This painting is a attempt to show how complicated the delivery system of power is - and too, how easy it is to look past all of the poles and not see them at all. I captured this pole in the summer (in a drawing) but I didn't paint it until after I saw it again on a darkening winter day with the lights on at a mall parking lot and the left over Christmas lights on a restaurant roof being illuminated at 4:30 in the afternoon. Eliminating most of the background forces you to look at the pole with all of its' decorative elements. The background just reminds you why the pole is there.
