Fern
THIS PAINTING IS SOLD
This painting is another painting that I have done to make myself feel more mainstream. It’s just a fern, nothing more and nothing less. It is from my back yard, in the overgrown area. I’ve been meaning to clean it out but it just hasn’t happened. Years ago I planted some store-bought ferns and they have been coming up for 25 years, in different spots. They dance around like little elves. The mosquitos love to hide in them or at least that is how it seems. I just tried to get a photo of one frond that showed the nature of the plant. This is the only one that looked the part. I hope you can notice that even ferns get chewed by little bugs. I can see where the growth changes direction after a critter has taken some nourishment. I think those differences give the fern more character than if it was perfect. Also, maybe the fern tastes bad because I also notice that the bites taken do not ravage the plant - just a nip here and a nip there. Perhaps after tasting the fern the critters say, “yuck!” and move on.
