It took a few trips with my camera to find a nice looking dump truck to do a painting of - I was looking for a regular dumper and not one all beat up and not one all spiffed up. I guess the idea started with my youngest grandson, who loves trucks and dinosaurs. Before I did a painting for myself, I did one for him. In his, I put some dinosaurs in the back that looked like they were going out for a ride and were having a good time. He liked it. I also did it that way because I usually don't do a full color work-up before the real one gets developed. I usually just draw it full sized. This was a good experience, I'm glad I tried it. I also simplified the background in the painting so that while the truck is someplace, it is not someplace that is distracting from the truck itself.
