And Then There Were Four
One day I walked by this ornamental orange tree, which grows all year round, producing flowers and then small oranges and then full blown oranges that are incredibly tart. Their size is about 2 inches when mature. Ultimately they just fall off the tree and onto the floor. However, the color starts out a very small dark green BB, that gets lighter and larger as it matures, ultimately turning the familiar orange. It sits inside in the Winter and outside in the Summer and continually grows - I cut it back so I can walk around it, in the house. I think we’ve had it for over 20 years. Anyway, one day I walked by it and thought that the green oranges needed to be photographed with a red background. I got the camera and had my wife hold the red card behind it. I didn’t get what I wanted so I proceeded to alter some of the total picture. Then, while painting I would add and then subtract pieces that needed attention. I used some of the shadows and then made up the rest. The finished painting looks “sort of” like the original…ok, it’s has been “artified.”
